We are hiring! Paws & Think is looking to hire a Canine Temperament Tester and an Evening Care Coordinator for our Youth-Canine Programs! Please share the description with your animal friends.

Paws & Think pairs shelter dogs with historically underserved juveniles in Indianapolis for a week-long training program. During the program, the shelter dogs receive socialization, extra attention and positive-reinforcement training, which helps them become more adoptable. In turn, the teens receive comfort from the dogs while also learning empathy, teamwork and confidence.

Canine Temperament Tester

Alongside our team, this position is responsible for behavior testing the dogs from animal shelters who then go through our Pawsitive Corrections Program at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center and the Warren Central High School program. The ideal candidate has knowledge of dog behavior, positive reinforcement/force-free training and animal shelters, but P&T is open to offering training for the position.

The position requires a person to be comfortable with handling dogs of all sizes and breeds, specifically walking them in and out of busy kennel spaces. Basic computer skills are required.

Please email Ashleigh Coster if you have interest or have any questions at acoster@pawsandthink.org

Evening Care Coordinator

The evening care coordinator is responsible for the care of the 4-5 dogs who stay at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center during the program from 5:30-8 p.m., three evenings per month (Tues-Thursday). The coordinator would be responsible for feeding and making sure the dogs receive their medications while also overseeing the P&T volunteers who play, enrich and potty the dogs before bed.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of dog behavior, positive reinforcement/force-free training and animal shelters, but P&T is open to offering training for the position. The position requires a person to be comfortable with handling dogs of all sizes and breeds. Patience and people skills are a must since the position requires oversight of volunteers.

Please email Ashleigh Coster if you have interest or have any questions at acoster@pawsandthink.org

*These positions are ideal for any vet techs, groomers, dog trainers or experienced shelter workers who would like to add a side job or earn extra income! The canine temperament tester typically works 1-2 times a month and the evening care coordinator 1-2 times a week during certain months of the programs.
